This is the logo of South Africa 2010.

Jabulani, which means 'to celebrate' or 'let us party' in Zulu, is gonnabe the official matchball in South Africa.

Noble things that you have to know about this Jabulani - - -
~ Grip n Groove profile = the surface pattern creates an ideal aerodynamic performance.
~ 3D Panels = the eight 3D panels are heat welded.
~ Regular balls are made with 32 hexagonal panels. The Teamgeist (=Teamspirit) for World Cup in Germany 2006 had only 14 panels. The Jabulani ball has amazin' 8 panels.
~ Teamgeist (=Teamspirit) was the first ball without stitchin'.

This picture illustrates the features of Jabulani

Made, as ever, by Adidas - the world's leadin' Football equipment manufacturer, the Jabulani ball builds on their years of scientific excellence. With their history of official FIFA World Cup balls (from Telstar to Teamgeist) the balls have improved year on year.

In Mexico 1970 - Telstar which had black and white leather.

This is the one we, Indian, have been usin' since 1970.

In Argentine 1978 - Tango which had 20 triangles and 12 circles.

In South Korea  and Japan 2002 - Fevernova had come with a turbine shaped design.

In Germany 2006 - Teamgeist (=Teamspirit) was introduced without stitchin'.

This Jabulani is attractin' some controversies along the way.... some players have expressed their reservations about this ball which is gonnabe used in South Africa.

Spain's goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas was sayin' - - -
'It's very fast and such a rotten ball. It's sad that an event as important as the World Cup has such a bad ball.'

His teammate Xavi Hernandez has same concerns - - -
'This new generation of balls are very fast and you have to get used to it.'

Chile keeper Claudio Bravo was sayin' - - -
'It's very quick and hard to catch. Therefore, there will be more goals and our (goalkeepers) lives are at stake.' And he compared this 'Jabulani' to a beach volley ball.

Brasil striker Luis Fabiano said - - -
'It's very weird. It can change trajectory on you and it does not want to be kicked. It's like someone is guidin' it. When you are goin' to kick it and it moves out of the way so that I think it's supernatural. It's very bad, you know.' (I personally like this quote. Such a good one.)

Brasil goalkeeper Julio Cesar called the ball 'terrible.' And he compared this one to plastic ones in a supermarket.

Italy striker Giampaolo Pazini called the same ball 'disaster.'

But Adidas usin' latest technology and years of scientific excellence and one-of-the-Tech guys said 'this 3D panels enhance the visibility of the ball all day long and Grip n Groove texture allows you for maximum control and perfect grip under any conditions.'

Here is the emblem of this World Cup campaign in South Africa 2010 . . . . .

And some past designs for you... Telstar had been used in 1970 and 1974 World Cup editions.

In 1978 and 1982, FIFA had opted for Tango match-ball.

In 1986, Azteka (or Azteca) had come into picture.

In 1990 and 1994, Etrusco and Questra had played their part respectively.

In France, 1998 - FIFA had gone for Tricolore.

This picture shows you the official match-ball which was used in African Cup (Wawa Aba).
